Scott has been working with individuals and couples therapeutically in variety of settings, including GP practices, charitable organisations, and in private practice. He works as a relational integrated Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, which means he believes there is power and benefit in many different therapeutic approaches. His primary modality is Transactional Analysis, which he uses to analyse and understand personality development and relational interactions between the self and others. He believes in the power of using relationships in therapeutic healing of the self.
In the majority of therapeutic work he does with clients, the approach is considered a 'talking therapy'. However,on occasion psychotherapeutic work requires an alternative approach so he may also use other methods to facilitate therapeutic exploration (e.g. sandtray, metaphor, active imagination, guided imagery, expressive art, and others).
Scott offers a safe, secure and pleasant environment with a warm and open-minded approach. His instinctive approach as a therapist is considered ‘person-centred’, whereby you the client are central to the therapeutic work. He will work with you at a pace that is comfortable to you, and get a sense of what it is you are looking to gain from being in therapy. Some people choose short-term therapy, some choose more long-term work. Some people have a specific issue they want to work on, whereby others may have more complex needs and are unsure how to find their way through. Therapy can offer the time and the space in your life to sit for a while and consider where you are at, and where you would like to be. Scott will sit alongside you and support you in this journey and help to navigate where you would like to go.
