Individual therapy offers a confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and relationships. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or a more general sense that something is not quite right, therapy provides the opportunity to slow down and make sense of what is happening.
Together, we can begin to understand the patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, creating greater awareness, choice, and possibility for change.

Starting Individual Therapy

Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. The information below explains what you can expect from the process, from arranging your consultation through to deciding whether ongoing individual therapy feels right for you.
1. Arranging Your Consultation Session
To arrange a consultation, simply get in touch by email or by using the contact form below. It is helpful to include the dates you are hoping to attend, together with your availability on those days. A selection of suitable appointment times will then be offered for you to consider. Once a suitable time has been agreed, your consultation will be provisionally reserved while the remaining booking arrangements are completed.
2. Your Consultation Session
The consultation provides an opportunity to explore the difficulties that have brought you to therapy, gain an understanding of what you hope to achieve, and consider whether ongoing individual therapy feels like the right next step for you. There is no expectation or obligation to continue beyond the consultation, and you are welcome to take time afterwards to decide whether you would like to proceed.
3. Beginning Therapy
If you decide to continue after your consultation, a regular appointment time will be agreed and your therapeutic work will begin. Therapy is usually offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis at the outset, helping to establish momentum, develop the therapeutic relationship and support meaningful progress.
4. What to Expect From Ongoing Therapy
Meaningful and lasting change usually develops over time.
Ongoing therapy provides the opportunity to explore your difficulties in greater depth, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and work towards the changes you hope to achieve.
Before deciding to begin therapy, it can therefore be helpful to consider whether you are able to make therapy a realistic and sustainable part of your life. Giving some thought to the personal and practical commitment involved beforehand often helps people engage more fully with the process.
Introductory Telephone Call (Optional)
An introductory call can be booked if you feel it would be helpful before arranging a consultation.
This provides an opportunity to hear my voice, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit.
It is entirely optional, so you are welcome to arrange a consultation without one.
